The Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 Ref. 116000 with the Red Grape dial falls squarely into the second category.

At first glance, it is everything an Oyster Perpetual should be: clean, uncomplicated and unmistakably Rolex. But then there is that dial.

The Oyster Perpetual is arguably Rolex in its purest form.

There is no date window, rotating bezel, chronograph or GMT hand. You get three hands, a beautifully finished dial, an Oyster case and an automatic Rolex movement.

That simplicity is precisely the point.

The Ref. 116000 combines a 36mm stainless-steel Oyster case with a smooth bezel and Oyster bracelet. The result is a remarkably versatile watch that can move effortlessly from jeans and a polo shirt to a suit.

At 36mm, it also represents one of Rolex's most traditional case sizes.

For decades, 36mm was considered an ideal size for a Rolex. While the industry subsequently moved toward larger watches, many collectors have rediscovered the balance and comfort of these classic proportions.

Put a 36mm Rolex on the wrist and it simply works.
